IMARC is the largest mining industry conference in Australia, this year held for the fourth time. It was attended by over 150 mining companies, 100 exhibitors, 400 investors and 3000 mining and resource professionals from 60 countries. The program of the conference was accompanied by workshops and exhibitions. For the Czech Republic, companies from the energy, infrastructure, mining and financing sectors were presented. During the conference, the delegation met representatives of the Australian Government and established contacts with Australian partners. Australians are currently facing rising electricity prices, especially due to the crisis in the energy sector. Its governments are looking for new solutions and partners, focusing in particular on renewable resources and increasing effectivness of existing resources. The delegation presented the possibilities of the Czech Republic to the representatives of the Governments of Victoria, Queensland and the capital of Canberra. During the program, they met with experts from the federal North Australia Investment Fund and other sectoral specialists, and met with General Governor of Australia, Peter Cosgrove, for informal admission. The draft of the government's energy security strategy for Australia was presented by the delegation by its author, Alan Finkel, Australia's Chief Scientist. The delegation had its own stand at the IMARC conference, which was attended by represented companies and banks. Petr Karel, CEO of AustralInvest, had a presentation on the transformation of the Czech coal sector and energy - "Lessons learnt for Australia", in which he presented the historical experience of Czech companies and their expertise. According to delegates, participation in the Melbourne Fair met expectations, managed to establish contacts with the partners and to better understand the needs of the Australian market. The delegation was led by its organizers from czech- australian Australinvest Company Petr Karel, Petr Kadeřávek and Julie Cumming. They were accompanied by Czech Ambassador in Australia Martin Pohl and Consul of the Czech Consulate in Sydney Tomáš Kára. The delegation was attended by ČSOB, ČS, Škoda Praha, EGAP, and AustralInvest represented also Energo-pro, Škoda Power, Czech Photovoltaic, SaZ, Ostroj Opava and Strojírny Bohdalice.The mission of Czech exporters and bankers, together with government representatives of the Czech Republic, took part in the IMARC mining and energy conference on 30 October - 2 November 2017.
